The advantages of the Kyocera Printer

ECOSYS (Economy, Ecology and Systems) Technology

kyocera printerDeveloping products that are kind to the environment and highly economical to run was the fundamental thinking behind developing ECOSYS. The cartridge-free ECOSYS printer concept was introduced by Kyocera in 1992 as a means of reducing the Total Cost of Ownership, and improving the printer’s environmental impact.

Conventional printers use an imaging cartridge that integrates a photoreceptor drum, developer and toner into a single, disposable unit. The entire cartridge is disposed of and replaced with a new unit when the toner is depleted. However, Kyocera’s ECOSYS printers feature a durable imaging system based on a patented amorphous silicon print drum, which is a combination of ceramic and metal. Kyocera’s durable print drum is guaranteed up to 500,000 pages on some series models, with a surface that is second only to diamond in hardness. This is due to tiny ceramic particles embedded in Kyocera’s toner which continually polish and recondition the drum during normal printing. This virtually eliminates the need for drum and other cartridge component replacement.

The result is printers and copiers which create less waste and have a lower comparable cost per print. Coupled with less downtime, this makes them up to 50% less expensive to operate than comparative models and a lot more reliable.
